Prenatal & Postpartum

STUDIES HAVE SHOWN THAT PEOPLE WHO RECEIVE REGULAR MASSAGES DURING THEIR PREGNANCY HAVE

  • Lower blood pressure

  • Increased oxygen flow

  • Less edema

  • Increased bonding with their infant

  • Increased likelihood of breastfeeding success

  • Fewer labor interventions

  • Less discomfort and pain throughout pregnancy and labor

  • And an overall shorter labor

My main objective for prenatal sessions is to free up adhesions & hypertonicities in the pelvis to allow optimal function and free flowing energy. By incorporating pelvic floor exercises, deeper soft tissue work and gentle neuromuscular techniques to relieve tension during pregnancy, your body will feel more balanced as your enter your birthing time. Additionally, I am trained in Spinning Babies techniques, which includes Breech Body Balancing and exercises to encourage your body to release, allowing your baby to find it's optimal position for birthing.

BENEFITS OF POSTPARTUM MASSAGE

After the birth of your baby, some of the most common aches and pains are caused by the new physical demands of caring for and feeding a newborn. The birthing process itself and residual issues from pregnancy are also reasons for discomfort. Receiving bodywork during this time is crucial not only to relieve the physical discomforts but also to let your mind unwind and release the tension and worry that builds up just from having the love of your life on the outside. If you can create a habit of taking time to nourish yourself, your baby will grow up observing the importance of self-care and the benefits will serve generations to come. Massage in the Postpartum time is also beneficial for breastmilk production, getting rid of toxins from your body, helping your internal abdominal organs find their pre-pregnancy places, checking in on uterine involution, and for overall physical healing after birth.

I provide therapeutic bodywork to all in need and have worked effectively on a number of maladies including sciatica/piriformis syndrome, edema, migraines/headaches, chronic tension, built-up scar tissue, TMJD, low back pain, SI joint dysfunction, pubic symphysis dysfunction, tendinitis, scoliosis, plantar fasciitis and more.

If you are a new parent who is having hesitations about being away from your baby or if childcare is unavailable, please feel free to bring them to your session. Having your baby on the massage table with you can be a wonderful bonding experience, especially if you've been receiving consistent treatment throughout pregnancy. Outcalls are also a great option!
